6 Things You Must Do On Campus Before Graduation

By Victoria Robertson on April 1, 2018

April is here, and that means graduation isn’t far behind, either. With that encroaching graduation date comes regret when students realize they haven’t accomplished all that they wanted to by the time graduation comes around.

For this reason, it’s time to put together your list of must-do activities on campus. While you might have a few personal goals to fit in, here are 6 things you must do on campus before graduating to get you started!

1. Stop at that restaurant

More often than not, when you are in college, you are on a budget. For that reason, it’s easy to continuously pass up a local restaurant that you want to try. With graduation approaching, throw caution to the wind and try that restaurant!

For one thing, if you aren’t local, you may not get the opportunity again. For another, it’s a new experience that you can look back on happily when you graduate.

2. Spend a day on the quad

Spending the day on the quad (or another gathering area on your campus) may be yet another one of those things that lost out to your other responsibilities during your undergraduate years. However, now that you are graduating, it’s time to take advantage of the space you have!

Gather your friends or roommates and spend the day on the quad. Whether you need to study for finals or just want to picnic and hang out, you’ll be able to enjoy the campus sights while making some memories to look back on down the road.

3. Visit the library

While many of you may have spent your entire undergraduate experience here, some of you may never have visited. Your campus library is one of those places that you have to visit at least once during your undergraduate career.

For one, this would be a great place to study for your upcoming, end of the year tests. Additionally, this is a great way to say goodbye to your academic work before leaving for your future endeavors. I recommend visiting before you leave, if not just to say goodbye then to admire the vastness that is your campus library.

4. Show your school spirit

While there aren’t too many sporting events to attend in the last months of school, you can always see one of your school plays or participate in any school spirit events on and around your campus. Showing your school spirit and going all in before you graduate is a great way to say goodbye to your college.

So no matter the events available, make sure to pick one and participate in full so you can look back on those memories and feel like you participated, even if it was at the last minute.

5. Get last minute shopping in

This is a great opportunity to buy some spirit wear for your school. Many of the shops are having sales around this time, and you can load up on clothes before you leave campus so that you can always show your alma mater pride in your professional life.

This is also a great opportunity to take photographs around campus to have some pictures to show your friends and family, or to frame and to keep as your physical memories of college. Make sure you wear your new spirit wear in those photographs as well!

6. Celebrate with your roommates

Finally, graduation is exciting but sad, as you will have to say goodbye to your roommates. This is a great opportunity to go out with a bang and celebrate with them in whatever way you want. Many will go out for one last hoorah, while others will stay in and reminisce for their last night before graduation.

Whatever the plan, make sure you make the time to share memories with your roommates and try to stay in touch as much as possible when you leave, because they could be friends throughout your life, so it’s completely worth the effort you put in.

Graduation is an exciting, yet stressful time in a college student’s life. However, it’s important to also take a minute to look back and bask in the memories you’ve created as well as to develop some new ones before you leave for the “real world.” These memories are ones you’ll carry with you for years to come, so fit in as many as you can before your time is up.

To get you started, refer to this list of six things you must do before graduating, but don’t be afraid to develop your own list as well. You’ll only have your undergraduate experience once, so make sure every second counts up until that final walk across the stage and into adulthood.

Congratulations graduates, and get started on those lists!
